Silver ('シルバー 総帥そうすい, Shirubā Sōsui) is a Human featured in Dragon Ball Z: The Forgotten. He is featured in the fourth and fifth sagas and is introduced in the chapter, "Mist". He is also featured as a minor character in The Perfect Lifeform.

Overview[]

Appearance[]

Silver is a tall man with red hair and green eyes. As he is getting older, his hair is thinning and he is going bald. He has much less hair than when he was shown in Dragon Ball. He is very muscular. His face looks quite a bit like his father Cardinal's. General Silver tends to wear heavy military garb at all times, though he refrains from wearing a helmet. General Silver still wears his champion's belt over his military garb, showing that he still remembers the old days as a Red Ribbon officer.

Personality[]

Silver is a loyal man. Even after being sentenced to execution in the Red Ribbon Army, he sought out to re-form it. He is also quite loyal to his father, and though he sometimes questions Cardinal's decisions, he always abides by them. The same cannot be said about Cardinal's political associates, as Silver doesn't care about them in the slightest. He has far more respect for the soldiers he hand-picked to be in the army. Silver also has confidence issues, which probably stem from his failure against Goku so many years ago. This is what led him to attack the Saibamen, when he didn't have to, as he didn't want to be branded a coward or failure by his subordinates. Silver can be extremely ruthless, and has no moral restraints to keep him from killing anyone. General Silver also has an addiction to M99, which is a strong tranquilizer. His overuse of it has led to an increase in paranoia and mental instability.

History[]

The Perfect Lifeform[]

In chapter 1, Dr. Gero stated that when Captain Silver fought against Android 1 in a training exercise, he punched a hole through the android's chest. Even though Silver was considered by Gero to be one of the strongest warriors in the Red Ribbon Army, the ease with which he damaged Android 1 greatly concerned Gero.

In chapter 2, Dr. Gero noted that Android 2 trained against both Captain Silver and Staff Officer Black soon after he was completed in order to test his capabilities. His training with the two went well, and after a few training sessions, he learned the behaviors of his foes and was able to defeat them in combat.

In chapter 3, Dr. Gero stated that after Androids 3 and 4 were created, they were trained in combat exercises by a variety of Red Ribbon Army officers, including Captain Silver, Captain Violet, and Staff Officer Black.

In chapter 6, Dr. Gero mentioned that Android 7 was trained in various martial arts styles by Colonel Silver and General Blue.

No Second Chances[]

In the first scene of this story, after Teal and Sapphire apprehended a Capsule Corp. driver, Teal's phone rang. He bound the driver's mouth, ankles, and wrists with tape before answering. On the phone was Staff Officer Black, who alerted Teal to Colonel Silver escaping from his execution that had been scheduled for earlier that day. He had escaped in a one-seater jet plane and was headed towards Teal's location. Two pilots were chasing him, but they were half a klick behind. If Teal could slow Silver down, he would be overwhelmed. Teal promised Black that he would stop Silver and hung up. At the end of the first scene, Teal got into his jet, thinking to himself that he would make Silver pay for his insubordination.

In the second scene, Teal found Silver thirty miles off the coast of West City. He engaged the traitor over the ocean. The two traded gunfire until the scouts Staff Officer Black had promised arrived. Silver immediately turned his attention towards them. One plane went up in flames within seconds, but by then, Silver's jet had sustained more than enough damage to smoke and spark. The surviving scout landed several crucial shots as Silver tried to evade Teal's attack, and in no time, his warplane had caught fire.

Teal regrouped with the scout (letting him lead them onwards, as was his duty). They chased down the retreating colonel, but as they reached Seikishi harbor, Silver's plane crashed into the water. Knowing that he would have to confirm the kill, Teal ditched his plane and ordered the scout to do so as well. The planes crashed into the water, slamming into the dock via their momentum, and bathing the piers in burning flames. Dozens of people were killed. The pilots had landed in the water some ways back.

Teal spotted Silver, and cutting his parachute off, swam towards him. The scout did too. Silver reached the pier a few seconds before them, so they soon lost him in the maze of cobblestone alleyways and plank bridges leading into town. Stopping at a fork in the road, Teal was unsure which way to proceed. The scout unshouldered his panzerschreck and unloaded down the left path, obliterating an entire neighborhood.

Silver emerged from the smoke and killed the scout by breaking his neck. Teal tried to shoot him, but the colonel disarmed him, moving faster than he could see. Teal retreated to a nearby building, drawing his rifle. The two exchanged gunfire. Teal was hit twice in the shoulder and retreated further, but Silver ran over to him and hit him to the ground, once again moving with superhuman speed. He noticed that he had nicked Silver in the side.

Nonetheless, the traitor threw his pistol at Teal's feet and asked him if he would remain loyal to the Red Ribbon Army were Commander Red dead and gone. Teal refused to entertain the question, as he believed Red was not at risk of imminent death. He said that he would serve Red and Red alone and that he would never take orders from Silver again. Silver asked him to think it over. Unlike Red, he was a merciful overlord, he said. Silver disappeared into the fog. Watching a fishing ship sail out into deeper water, Teal called up Staff Officer Black to relay him the news, hoping that Commander Red was in a more forgiving mood for him than he had been with Silver.

Killing General Copper[]

In the first scene of this story, as Cardinal, Hasky, and Proprananik walked to the helicopter waiting for them, the old man thought to himself that the androids would be a much-needed boost to the New Red Ribbon Army, especially if the defects of Android 8 had been rectified in their models. Cardinal knew that only Dr. Gero and Dr. Flappe had worked on androids in the RRA, so one of them had to have been responsible for 11 and 12. He resolved to send Hasky and Proprananik to Flappe's house once they returned to him and also decided to send Silver to Gero's location if Copper confirmed that the doctor was still alive.

In the third scene, Proprananik flew Hasky to the South City hospital, which was where Copper was staying. On the way over, they picked up Colonel Silver (though Hasky didn't know who he was). Later, after Hasky secured Copper's room, the window and the wall around it were ripped out by Proprananik's helicopter. Colonel Silver, the red-haired man, called from the helicopter's door for her to unhook the sleeping general from the machines and bring him over to the hole in the wall. The man reached out, grabbed the top of the bed frame and pulled Copper off of it and into the helicopter. He instructed Hasky to jump to him (he promised to catch her). Her adrenaline pumping, Hasky didn't have time to think about it. The two surviving guards were banging on the door, demanding to be let inside. She backed up to get a running start before jumping through the broken hole into Silver's arms.

He caught her and easily pulled her into the helicopter. She told him that people were about to break into Copper's room. Calmly, Silver asked her to hang on while he stuck Copper in the neck with a syringe of red liquid and patted the man on the chest several times. From ahead, Proprananik screamed that they had to leave, for a police helicopter was approaching them. Silver told him to wait as well. Copper woke up, coughing. He was confused, but Silver explained that everything was alright - he was safely in the Red Ribbon Army's protection once more. Copper was surprised to see him, though he did not say anything else, for he was still very weak. Silver reached for a green Panzerschreck and fired it at the open hole, directly at the hospital door. The room went up in a white-hot explosion, killing the guards and probably several innocent bystanders as well.

The helicopter lurched away from the building, preparing to flee, when Proprananik informed Silver that the police helicopter was bearing down on them from behind. He spun their helicopter around to meet the police while Silver reloaded his Panzerschreck. The police demanded for them to land at once, but Silver shot them down with his rocket, and that was the end of that.

In the fourth scene, Cardinal, Silver, and Proprananik met with General Copper in Bonetown. Hasky was there too, though she did not get too involved in their conversation. Cardinal introduced himself and noted that Copper had refused to join the New Red Ribbon Army years ago, which seemed to have annoyed the old man. Copper was unapologetic. After Goku had destroyed the Red Ribbon Army, he had gone with Gero, for Gero had still been loyal to the Red Ribbon Army at the time. Cardinal, on the other hand, had resigned from his post due to Red having ordered Colonel Silver to be executed. Cardinal said that he had had no other choice. Copper agreed, even stating that he had asked Red not to go through with the order. However, Gero had still contacted Copper first, so that was why he had allied with the man.

Cardinal asked him how Gero was doing. The general informed him that Gero was still working on his androids. Once they were perfected, Gero's plan was to use them to kill Goku. Hasky butted in, asking Copper if he was referring to Androids 11 and 12. She threw their capsules to the ground, and seconds later, the two unconscious androids appeared before the group. Copper was surprised that Hasky had managed to snag them, though Cardinal informed the man that she was the greatest thief in the world.

He then asked Copper if he had said anything to the military after they had taken him hostage. The man denied it. When pressed on if he had been the only officer taken alive, he revealed that after being taken by the military, they had told him on the third or fourth day of interrogation that Lieutenant Colonel Teal had also survived and was telling them all he knew. Copper was unsure if that had been a lie or not, for he had not seen Teal die or be captured, though the man's name was also not common knowledge. Cardinal was taken aback, for Teal's survival had not been mentioned on the government's report of the battle. Copper could offer him nothing more, for he had never seen Teal during his confinement. Cardinal promised to look into it.

He ordered Copper to set up a meeting between them and Gero. Copper was surprised that Cardinal wanted to re-join the RRA. He told the general that he would fund Gero's research. Once they killed the kid with the tail, they would work together to find the Dragon Balls and take over the world. Cardinal declared that he would lead the Red Ribbon Army going forward, while Gero would lead the Androids Division and Silver would lead their military (which was very small at present). Copper seemed none to pleased with Silver's promotion following his failure to retrieve the Dragon Ball from Goku. Silver rebuffed him, stating that nobody in the army had been able to stop the kid, including Generals White and Blue. Copper conceded that none of them had the strength to kill the boy. They would have to rely on the androids for that. Cardinal promised to give Copper a new legion of soldiers after a new headquarters was established, but currently, the Red Ribbon Army did not have even one hundred soldiers in its employ. General Copper agreed to the partnership between the New Red Ribbon Army and the Red Ribbon Army Remnant.

Cardinal asked him if he knew where Gero's lab was. He did, so the old man implored him to go there on the morrow and entreat the doctor. Copper was annoyed about that and asked them to send someone else. Silver told him that Copper, Cardinal, Gero, and himself (as well as Teal, possibly) were the only surviving officers of the RRA, and so they would have to do this themselves. Copper was shocked. He asked them what had happened to Colonel Violet. Awkwardness pervaded the air. Silver finally admitted that Violet had not remained loyal to their cause and had been dealt with as a result. Copper was not surprised, for she had fled when Goku had attacked the Red Ribbon headquarters. Nevertheless, he stated that they needed to find replacement officers soon.

Copper asked Hasky if she had recovered the Dragon Radar along with the androids. She showed it to him. There was a bullet hole in its face. The man admitted that the radar was broken and Gero had not yet been able to fix it (the bullet hole being a more recent wound). Gero had believed that he had fixed the radar before sending Copper to South City, but it was now broken again. Copper explained that General Blue had stolen the device from Goku shortly after Cardinal had resigned from the Red Ribbon Army. Commander Red had then given it to him. He speculated that Goku had gathered all seven balls, for none of them had appeared on the radar after he had received it, and none of his soldiers had found any in the ruins of the Red Ribbon headquarters. He reminded the others that the Dragon Balls recharged every year, so unless Goku was using them all the time, they would have a shot at gathering them. Cardinal promised to have his men attempt to repair it until a line of communication was opened with Dr. Gero.

Cardinal once more asked Copper where the man's lab was located. He revealed that it was in the mountains outside of North City and offered to take Cardinal and his men to see Gero. However, he warned that while Gero did not have many soldiers guarding him, he could have had activated another android or two since the disappearance of 11 and 12. Copper also admitted that Gero was unlikely to cede any power to Cardinal. The old man promised to deal with Gero as long as the line of communication was opened.

He ordered Silver to accompany Copper to Gero's lab. Afterwards, Cardinal instructed Proprananik and Hasky to visit Jingle Village in the far north in order to check up on Dr. Flappe, Gero's old partner in the androids division. Their mission was to find out if the man was still in contact with Gero and to find, take, and destroy any Red Ribbon Army documents he possessed. Proprananik was ordered to kill Flappe only if he was compromised. Cardinal questioned Copper about Flappe, but the general was unaware of Gero maintaining contact with the other doctor (though it wasn't like Gero told him everything about the android creation process). Cardinal then bade Proprananik and Hasky to leave at once and told the thief that he would pay her Ƶ4,000,000 to complete this mission. Satisfied at the generous amount, Hasky and Proprananik left.

In the sixth scene, on December 8, Age 756, Proprananik met up with Silver and Copper in the mountainous wilderness outside of North City, which was where Dr. Gero's laboratory was located. He told Silver that Cardinal had ordered him to spare Hasky, for she could be useful to them in the future. Silver didn't entirely disagree, though he thought that if she ever told anybody in King Furry's government about the New Red Ribbon Army, it would spark a world war. Proprananik asked them if this was where Gero's lab was at. Silver said that they had agreed to meet at a neutral location to protect the doctor's privacy.

Not long after, Gero met up with them. He remarked that after Commander Red had ordered Silver's execution, he had not expected to see the man again. Silver replied that Teal had been sent to assassinate him, but had failed (and had been lucky to have escaped with his life). Gero remembered that Red had complained about Cardinal helping Silver escape, but the man assured him that his father had only provided him transportation away from the Red Ribbon headquarters. Still, the doctor was unconvinced that a man who had resigned from the Red Ribbon Army should lead them going forward. He threw a capsule that turned into a single-room building and ushered them all inside to continue their discussion.

Inside, Gero sat at the head of the table, while Copper sat to his right; Silver and Proprananik sat to his left. Before they began negotiating an alliance, the doctor requested General Copper to tell him what happened to his legion and Androids 11 and 12 after his remote camera feed of their battle against Earth's military had cut out. Copper confirmed that everyone had been killed by the military (he made no mention of Teal) except for the androids and himself. Gero was surprised to learn of that, for he had activated the androids' self-destruct sequences when they had been overrun by the military. Copper told him about the EMP blast that had deactivated the pair and speculated that that had been the reason the command had not been received. Somewhat embarrassed, Gero promised to correct that defect in the next android model.

Silver told Gero that they had paid Hasky to acquire the stolen androids, promising to have them back in two or three days. Gero demanded that they be returned to him. Silver requested that one of them be left in the New Red Ribbon Army's possession for security purposes. When the doctor scoffed at that notion, Proprananik butted in, stating that they had gone through a lot of trouble to get the androids and Copper back and that Gero should view their actions as a gesture of good will. Silver placed an infinite energy device on the table and told Gero that he had recovered it after the doctor had sold it to the deputy mayor of South City some years ago. Gero had not much use for it, as it was an older model, but its parts could be salvaged.

Silver told him that Cardinal would finance his android projects, so he would never have to go hunting for supplies again. Gero would lead the androids division of the New Red Ribbon Army, while Cardinal was to take an administrative role. Silver and Copper would lead the armies. Gero wasn't surprised that Cardinal wanted to lead them, but he was surprised that Copper had gone along with this plan. Copper stated that since their goals of killing Goku, acquiring the Dragon Balls, and taking over the world were mutual, there was no reason for them to not be allied. Silver wanted Gero to continue working on his androids while the rest of them focused on finding the Dragon Balls. The doctor disagreed, reminding them that Goku and his friends possessed a Dragon Radar that was extremely precise. They would be aware of any attempt to gather the Dragon Balls, so they had to be killed first. Silver agreed with that strategy.

Gero promised to fix the Dragon Radar that Copper had. He refused, however, to give either Android 11 or 12 to Cardinal's team, for neither android had been completed when they had been captured. He was not sure that they would remain loyal if they were removed from his care. For that reason, he decided to create a new android - Android 14 - for Cardinal to use. He assumed that Cardinal wanted the android to eliminate some of Furry's top men. Silver confirmed that, though he added that general security was also a reason for needing the android. With that matter settled, Gero moved onto a more pressing issue: his desire to co-lead the New Red Ribbon Army. As Commander Red had misused his androids in the past, he was not keen on having history repeat itself. Proprananik stated that Cardinal would never be like Red. Still, Gero wanted their alliance to be a 50-50 partnership.

Silver countered that since Cardinal would be paying for Gero's supplies, their partnership was not equal. The doctor dismissed that argument, for his androids, even 11 and 12, were more valuable than all the riches in the world, as they could eradicate it of all life if they so chose, including Goku. Copper asked him if he had located Goku. Gero confirmed that he had, but he was not ready to send his androids to the kid's location, for while they were strong, they were still flawed warriors who had many weaknesses he needed to correct.

Proprananik asked the doctor about Android 13. Gero confirmed that 13 was operational and was, at present, running an errand for him. However, he was unsure of 13's power. He wanted to test his capabilities against Androids 11 and 12 before sending the trio to Goku's location. Silver asked Gero if he would accept a 51-49 partnership, but the doctor said he would walk away if Cardinal and he were not equal partners. Backed into a corner, Silver had no choice but to accept the 50-50 partnership deal.

Before the alliance was forged, though, Gero brought up one more thing. He told the group that some days ago, Android 13 had captured two children - Lapis and Lazuli - from North City. He planned on experimenting on them in order to create the first bio-androids. Once he perfected the technique of merging technology and flesh, he would turn all Red Ribbon Army soldiers into androids. After they took over the world, he would then turn all of humankind into androids.

Copper grew visibly upset upon hearing that and said he had not been told about that plan. Gero dismissed him, arrogantly saying that the matter was not up for discussion. He would turn all of humanity into androids, and that was that. He was not creating androids to kill Goku (he would use them merely to enact revenge upon the boy for what he had done to the RRA). All of them would become androids in due time, and the human race would become an immortal species. Silver, Proprananik, and Copper were shocked by the doctor's statements. Silver refused to become an android. Gero rebuked him, telling him that he would, or he would die. Proprananik told him to calm down. Gero stated that the android-ization of the world had been a core tenant of the Red Ribbon Army and that Commander Red had approved of it, but nobody believed him. Copper too refused. He called Gero mad and regretted helping him in the past. Likewise, Proprananik said he would never become an android.

Gero said he was not mad - the rest of the world was. It was up to him to induce the next necessary evolution of the human species through android-ization. In his opinion, the Red Ribbon Army did not exist only to take over the world. They were going to fundamentally change the world for the better. Once more, Silver refused to go along with his plan. As such, Gero immediately declared himself the ruler of the Red Ribbon Army and decreed that the three of them be executed for insubordination.

As the three rose to their feet, Dr. Gero fled out the door. At once, turrets popped out of the walls and sprayed the room with bullets. Copper was shot in the head and was instantly killed. Proprananik dived on Silver, shielding him from harm. He begged Silver to flee, to save himself. Before Silver could respond, Proprananik slumped over, dead. Silver jumped up and pursued Gero, using a chair as cover. The turrets focused on him, but he ran with blinding speed to a wall. Furious, desiring to avenge Copper and Proprananik, he kicked his way through that wall and ran out into the frigid wilderness, a pistol in his hand. He didn't see Gero anywhere. Seconds later, he realized how much pain he was in. He had been shot multiple times. Silver fell to his knees, dropping the pistol. He observed the rugged, isolated beauty of the place while dialing his father, yet he fell over before it stopped ringing.

In the seventh scene, Quarlic called Cardinal and told him that Silver had woken up and wanted to see his father. Quarlic also revealed that while Silver was in stable condition, he wouldn't recover from his wounds for months. The doctors wanted him to get a lot of rest. Cardinal cut the communication and walked out of his room, thinking to himself that he had to remain calm. Gero would pay for what he had done, but Cardinal could not be blinded by his rage right now.

When Cardinal reached Silver's room, he was relieved to find that his son's feeding tube had been removed. He was still covered in bandages. The doctors told him that Silver's paralysis would dissipate over time. After hearing that, Cardinal dismissed Quarlic, who had been guarding Silver, and the only doctor in the room. Once they had left, Silver told Cardinal that it had been Gero's treachery that had led to the deaths of Copper and Proprananik. Cardinal already knew that. He told his father that Gero wanted to turn all of humankind into androids and had been experimenting on children. When Silver, Proprananik, and Copper had refused to go along with his plan, Gero had attacked them. Silver begged Cardinal to kill the doctor. He promised to do so, in due time.

In the meantime, however, Silver needed to focus on his recovery if he ever wanted to walk again. Silver told Cardinal that Proprananik had saved him, even though he had ended up with thirty-five bullets in him. Cardinal knew Proprananik was a good man. Once more, his son begged him to kill Gero. Cardinal promised to do so only after Androids 11 and 12 were re-activated, as Gero possessed androids of his own. He knew that since Gero would never squeal to King Furry, time was on their side. Impatiently, Silver pleaded with his father to nuke North City. Cardinal refused to do so unless Gero escalated things.

Changing subjects, he told his son that he might have located Lieutenant Colonel Teal. There was a man named "Haruspex" who had been transferred from the South City prison to witness protection on an island in the far south called Hosomaki. He would be sending Quarlic there the next day to investigate. Silver would join him down there as soon as he was able, if the matter was not resolved before then. Then, Cardinal mentioned that while it was sad that Copper was dead, for Silver had formed a bond with his former superior officer, now that Copper was out of the picture, Teal was the only remaining loose end. Once he was dealt with, the members of the NRRA would be safe from being revealed and they could begin working towards taking over the world (once the androids were re-activated, of course). By the end of Cardinal's long speech, Silver had fallen asleep.

Outside, Quarlic and the doctor waited for him. He ordered the doctor to keep Silver alive at all costs. The man promised to do so before being dismissed.

Dragon Ball Z: The Forgotten[]

Planet Earth Saga[]

Silver acted as an enforcer for his father's Red Ribbon activities in the Planet Earth Saga. He led the soldiers against the rampaging Saibamen, and took significant losses. Later, after capturing a single Saibaman, he was almost killed by it. Only Captain Green's throwing them both to the ground saved him from the creature's self destruction. Silver later expressed doubt in his father's plans to capture the alien, although he aided him nonetheless. After Kindler and Dewberry found Ledas' space ship, Silver led the remainder of his troops on board to escape Majin Buu.

Reunion Saga[]

After returning to Earth, Silver accompanied his father back to their base in the city. He was radioed up by his Sergeant a few moments later, making him aware of Kindler's and Dewberry's deaths. He then formulated a strategy with his father to take out Ledas. They came up with using poisoned bullets. He was then taken by his soldiers to where the Z Fighters and The Benefactor were fighting. He set up sniper groups to shoot at all of them and positioned himself to attack Ledas personally. After shooting Ledas a few times, the boy became aware of the army and shot a Lightning Strike at them. Silver was one of the only people to survive, though he was badly wounded. As he called out to an unconscious or dead Private Wisconsin to help him, Ryori appeared and quickly shot him in the head, professing that he was taking payback on the army killing his brother.

Trivia[]
