Season 3 of GT focuses on Piccolo and his adventures escaping from Hell. It starts when Cell and Freiza escaoe from their capture after their defeat at the hands of Goku. Raditz recognizes Piccolo as the same Namek who killed him and teams up with Cell and Frieza. Grand Kai then sends Pikkon there and he defeats the trio and breaks Piccolo out of Hell. Pikkon then tells that he sacrificed himself to save his people from an evil tyrant. He knew he couldn't win so he stalled so they could escape. He tells Piccolo the only way to get back to Earth is to find the Ancient Kai. When Piccolo finds him he makes Piccolo go through a series of trials. After Piccolo completes them he must win the Other World Tournament to go back. He fights well, then in the last match fights Pikkon and like Goku touches the ceiling the fights ends up in a draw. But Grand Kai is gonna disqualify him for touching the ceiling but Ancient Kai reveals he had the power to bring Piccolo back to Earth, he just wanted to train him so he could see his potential.
